Let’s talk about Reiki: No "woo-woo," just the real deal!

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while now. If you’ve seen "Reiki Master" in my bio, you might be wondering what that actually means, or why I’m so invested in this practice.

Let’s pull up a chair, grab a coffee, and have an honest, down-to-earth conversation about what Reiki is and why it’s become such a huge part of my life.

So, what is it actually?

If you strip away all the fancy terminology, Reiki is essentially a super gentle way to help your body hit the "reset" button.

Think about your life for a second. We’re constantly moving, checking off to-do lists, and running on that low-level hum of stress. Eventually, it feels like we’re running on a battery that just won’t charge.

Reiki is a technique that helps smooth out that energy. It’s not about "fixing" anything; it’s about creating a space where your nervous system can finally drop the armor, stop the mental chatter, and just breathe. It’s like clearing out the background noise so you can finally hear yourself think again.

Let’s clear up the mystery

Because Reiki is a bit of an "invisible" practice, it’s easy to get the wrong idea. Let’s break down the basics:

It’s not a religion. You don't need to change your beliefs or subscribe to any specific philosophy. It’s just a tool for relaxation, plain and simple.

It’s not a massage. I’m not working on your physical muscles. Think of it as a "massage" for your energy—it’s about calming that internal static that keeps you from feeling truly rested.

You don’t have to be "good" at it. You don't need to know how to meditate or have a perfectly clear mind. You just have to be willing to show up and let go for a little while. That’s it.

Why I became a Reiki Master

I didn't dive into this because I wanted to be a guru. I did it because I saw how powerful it is to give ourselves permission to stop.

I know how hard it is to actually rest. We’re so good at doing, but we’re often terrible at just being. I’ve found that Reiki is the best way I know to get back to that quiet, centered version of myself. And honestly, I think everyone deserves to have that kind of peace in their back pocket.

I’m really looking forward to sharing more of this journey with you. I’ll be using this space to talk about energy, how to manage stress, and the simple, everyday ways we can all feel a little more grounded.

If you’re new to this, welcome. I’m just happy to have you along for the ride.

What does "peace" look like for you in your daily life? Do you have a favorite way to reset when things get overwhelming? I’d love to hear it in the comments!
